RSOs
Illini Fighting Hunger
Illini FIghting Hunger (IFH) is an RSO with the U of I and one of Wesley's student organizations. Started in 2012 by a grad student (now Dr.!) Greg Damhorst, IFH seeks to address food insecurity through the facilitation of meal and single-ingredient packaging events. Since we began, IFH has packaged more than 3 million meals and more than 150 tons (yes, TONS!) of single ingredients like rice, beans, and oats. This food has been used by food pantries across the state of Illinois to help feed hungry people. Student members plan and organize these events, and lead school, community, and faith group volunteers (almost 50,000 so far!) to fight hunger in their communities. Are you ready to fight? Then join us!
Project 4 Less
Project 4 Less (P4L) is an RSO with the U of I and another one of Wesley's student organizations. P4L seeks to fight hunger while also reducing food waste that is headed for the landfill. Each Wednesday evening, a group of students head to the IKE to repackage leftovers from the dining hall, which are then shared with clients of the Wesley Food Pantry (wesleypantry.org) and with students who are food insecure. Wanna make a difference? Join our team and help feed our community and care for our planet!
