For Aidan Molloy, a second-year master’s student in aerospace engineering, Wesley quickly became more than just a place to attend worship—it became a community to call home. Originally from Winchester, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston, Aidan arrived on campus already encouraged by members of his undergraduate church to seek out Wesley. He attended his first Sunday service right away, followed by Midweek, and knew almost immediately that he had found the right place.

What drew him in—and what continues to bring him back—is the depth of the community. “The strong sense of community, inclusivity, and dedication to serving others are some of the things I love most about Wesley,” he shares. “The conversations and sermons have really helped me to grow in my faith.”

Now serving as a Wesley Student Leadership Team member, and as a Student Rep on the Foundation's Board of Trustees, Aidan is excited for the opportunity to give back to a community that has been such a meaningful part of his time at Illinois. He hopes to support and strengthen the student center while also growing in his own leadership. “I want to better understand how a faith-based organization works,” he says, “but more importantly, I hope to grow in my ability to connect with others—especially peers—on a spiritual level.”

Aidan brings a thoughtful and creative spirit to the Wesley community. He has played the cello for many years, both in orchestras and as a solo musician, and continues to find joy and expression through music. He also has a unique and unexpected hobby—he learned to unicycle a decade ago and still rides around campus and his neighborhood.

His faith remains a steady source of grounding in the midst of a busy and demanding academic life. He often returns to words from Matthew’s Gospel that remind him not to be overwhelmed by the future and to trust in God’s care. “They remind me that I am not alone,” he reflects, “and to stop and take in the beauty of life and nature along the way.”

Whether he’s studying in the library, walking through the arboretum, or sharing in worship and conversation at Wesley, Aidan carries a calm, reflective presence. With his curiosity, musical gifts, and desire to build meaningful connections, he is helping shape a community where others can grow in faith and find a place to belong.
