At this year’s Graduation Sunday, we had the privilege of hearing from Claire Lambert, a graduating senior from Goreville, Illinois, majoring in English with a minor in Graphic Design. Claire is a storyteller in every sense—through her words, her illustrations, and the way she fosters connection in the communities she loves.
Claire’s journey with Wesley began just a year ago when she first met several student leaders who welcomed her with warmth and joy. That initial hospitality pulled her into a space she quickly recognized as something special—a community where faith, creativity, and compassion could grow side by side.
“I was drawn to this space of spiritual collaboration and kindness… This community helped me develop my understanding of Christianity and compassion as a whole.”
Raised in the Community of Christ tradition, Claire came to Wesley with an openness to new ways of worship and discovery. What she found was more than a community—it was a table where everyone is invited to share their stories, their hunger, and their hopes.
“We try to make sure everyone who is spiritually or physically hungry has a place at the table.”
Midweek Worship became a grounding ritual for Claire—a rhythm of rest, reflection, and real conversation that helped carry her through academic stress and moments of loneliness. Now, as she graduates and looks ahead to life as an author and illustrator, her heart is set on telling stories that inspire, heal, and connect.
Claire, thank you for reminding us that stories matter—and that the best ones are rooted in love, inclusion, and deep listening. We can’t wait to see the worlds you’ll create next.
